THE PROCESS

The composer series was started in 2014 and stems from illustrations I once made for a children's music book. While I draw I listen to the music of the particular composer I'm working on to feel a deeper connection.

Portraits are first drawn by hand, with colour added digitally. Finally, the image is sent off to be printed, resulting in top quality giclée prints.

​

In this series are Bach, Pachelbel, Shostakovich, Brahms, and many more. A more recent focus has been drawing female composers like Delia Derbyshire and Fanny Mendelssohn who are less well-known than their male counterparts.

These portraits are available to license and buy as prints. They feature on two of my music products: a birthday calendar and Quartet the composer card game, and are the inspiration for a music podcast.
